Haven’t you just been LOVING this weather lately?  It’s so warm and sunny… spectacular weather for a family portrait session at Apps Mill in Brantford.

The Dale family joined me for this great day and we had all kinds of laughs and fun with their two gorgeous girls!

This is the third time I’ve had the chance to work with this super-cute family in Toronto and I just LOVE the way Max & Tristan were dressed to the nines!  Their little hats and jackets looked awesome… and so did their parents, I might add!  ;-)  We shot along the waterfront of Toronto back in the fall and I’m so glad to share some of my favorites with you!

It’s not often that you can do an outdoor maternity session in the middle of January!  But with that incredibly mild weather we had this past weekend, that’s exactly what Heather, Craig & I did!

Heather & Craig are previous engagement and wedding clients of mine, and I’m sooo excited that they’ll be welcoming a baby boy at the end of January.  We spent a little while at the Guelph Arboretum, and although it was a little wet & mucky from the melted snow it was perfect for getting some shots of Heather’s super-cute baby bump!  Here are a few favorites from their session.

I love watching my clients’ families grow!  Years ago I shot Jenn & Scott’s wedding in London… then this past winter I did their baby Addyson’s newborn photos… and now I’ve been lucky enough to do their fall family photos as Addy turned 6 months old.  We took some time out at Springbank Park to have a bit of fun in the nice weather.

Everyone needs to learn what leaves taste like…

It’s the one question I get asked most often when people are getting ready for a portrait session:  what should we wear?

As the fall season approaches, outdoor photos are extremely popular.  So as you prepare for your engagement or family photo session, here are a few suggestions on what to look for in a coordinating wardrobe.

- No big logos of any kind.  Stick to timeless prints and colours and avoid distracting patterns.

- Say no to “matchy-matchy”!  The days of everyone wearing white shirts and khakis are gone.  Look for complimentary colours that play off each other.

- For family sessions, remember to be comfortable!  We’ll be playing around with the kids, so wearing your Sunday-Best isn’t always practical.  When kids are comfortable in their clothes, they’re happier and easier to photograph!

- For engagement sessions, I like to suggest choosing two outfits:  one casual, and one a little dressier.  We can shoot both styles during your session to give a little more variety.

Here are some outfit combinations I pulled together for the whole family.  These warmer, simple earth tones look great in the fall!  Don’t forget the accessories like scarves, necklaces, hats and belts!
